Rights and Interests Map
One way to think about who your stakeholders are is to ask: who has rights and/or interests which could be impacted by my project? If you are a REstartup, you can request a free Rights and Interests Map (RIM) here through GreenSocialLicense.ca. Utilizing publicly available information, a RIM will identify: Indigenous groups, Community Associations, Local Media, Elected Politicians, and others. Where available, a RIM will also include information about recent regulatory and environmental assessment processes near your project site, including a list of groups which participated in those proceedings.
Start at the Beginning
Step One to secure a social license to operate is determining who has rights and interests which could be impacted by your project. Once you know who your stakeholders and rightsholders are, you can move on to planning, engaging, and empowering - all of which will be required to secure a social license.
